About this camp

The High School Fellowship in Biomedical Research at The Wistar Institute is a four-week immersive internship designed for highly motivated high school students passionate about science. Participants gain hands-on experience in a state-of-the-science Training Lab, learning best practices in biomedical laboratory techniques. Students contribute to active Wistar science projects, developing critical thinking skills in experimental design and data analysis. The program also focuses on career exploration in biomedical research, scientific literature review, and culminates in a presentation of their work. A select number of participants may have the opportunity to extend their experience with an additional three weeks of individually-mentored research in a cancer research lab, contingent on funding.

What a typical day looks like

Each week, students are expected to participate Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, engaging in hands-on laboratory work, learning techniques, and contributing to research projects.

This program is ideal for curious, motivated high school students aged 16 and older who have completed at least one high school science course and are interested in exploring biomedical research as a potential academic or career pathway.
